The 14th hole is the last of our three par fives and offers a magnificent view of the South Downs every step of the way. Driving out of a tight avenue of trees over a grass, gorse and heather rough you should be able to find the generous, slightly undulating 'links-style', fairway. The prevailing south-westerly wind can blow the ball to the left hand side where the grass rough can be deep although it will normally hold the ball before the tree lined boundary.
Longer hitters gain an advantage as they can take on the cross rough and go for the green in two, whilst lesser strikers are best advised to lay up in order to play from grass rather than heather - this leaving a shot of just over 150 yards to the green. The hole begins to drop down as you approach the green but you first have to negotiate the 80 yard heather cross rough before the fairway narrows on the run in to the green. A well positioned heather faced bunker on the front left-hand side of the green will gather up any balls hit slightly too far left.
A fair and challenging par five which offers both risk and reward set against the most magnificent backdrop of the view to the South Downs. A truly memorable hole.
