Originally built in 1907 by architect and founder member, Langton Dennis using stone taken from the quarry behind the fourth tee. In 1926 the clubhouse was extended giving it the appearance of which we are all familiar with.
Today the clubhouse offers something for all of our members and guests, whether its relaxing in front of the fire place or enjoying the beautiful views from our terrace.
The clubhouse offers many areas to enjoy a sumptuous meal, whether it's in the dining room from our à la carte menu or a hearty meal in the bar after your round.
We now also serve excellent Barrel & Stone pizzas available every day from 3pm.
Crowborough Beacon is located on the eastern edge of the Ashdown Forest and being 242 metres above sea level the views from the terrace are vast. Facing south the panoramic view encompasses the south downs from Bexhill to Brighton.
On a clear day Birling gap is easily identified and the club house binoculars can be used in locating other famous landmarks.
The clubhouse is accessed via the terrace and provides the most wonderful setting for food and drink throughout the year.
The dining room provides a secluded space for any function your heart desires.
Looking out on to the terrace and the views beyond, the dining room can cater for 60 people in a cosy but formal setting. There are buffet facilities as well as traditional table service.
The history of Crowborough Beacon Golf Club remains an integral part of club. Within the club's membership there is an archive committee who have spent many years researching and uncovering the history of the club. Members and visitors will find an alcove conveniently tucked away in the lounge where you are invited to the take a comfy seat to step back in history and immerse yourself in the many documents, pictures and artefacts discovered by the archive committee.
Did you know our captain in 1910 was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?
The Macey family are synonymous with Crowborough Beacon golf club. Charles Macey Senior was our professional for 31 years (1910-1941) before his son Charles Macey Junior was our professional from 1941-1975.
In their honour, we have created a private meeting room available for private meeting or an intimate dining experience.
We have many areas available allowing us to cater for small meetings (up to 8) to large private hire of the whole venue for up to 150 people.
